I'd suggest that, as it provides a simple problem free solution to the need of backing up a bootcamp partition. It backs up your windows drive within macOS, so indirectly you have the opportunity to have a time machine backup of your windows drive. I found for bootcamp based macs that WinClone works the best. My need for windows, and the headaches and frustrations that bootcamp introduces was one factor for my decision to buy a PC instead of using my Mac for macOS and windows. With a Mac, using a different partition type (GUID) and with the AFPS filesystem, its plausible that a PC only application will not work too well on a Mac drive. I created a GPT partition map on the new drive, and started up Acronis, it created all of the partitions that windows uses (or creates) Windows doesn't really play nice with external USB drives, so it didn't produce a bootable device, but my aim was to copy the internal to the external and then swap them. Bootability of both operating systems will be kept. If you have Boot Camp installed on your hard drive to use Windows in addition to MacOS, you can back up and recover the entire disk, including Boot Camp.
